[Ignis peers into their shared room, wondering if Noct is finally dressed. They had planned to go see those fireworks that Robin said will go off soon. And while they aren't going to be as spectacular as they usually are, it will be a nice sight, a bit of color in this constantly dark sky.
He packed them some things to snack on, figuring he could turn this little excursion into a small picnic. There's always an empty spot a bit off from the dock where no one will disturb them and they can sit and watch the sky.]
[It wasn't that Noctis intended to take so long getting ready. Honestly, it wasn't as if he were typically very high maintenance at all. But, in true fashion, he had fallen asleep sometime that afternoon and had woken up precisely five minutes before when he and Ignis had agreed to leave. Which meant he had spent at least three of those minutes rushing around the room trying to gather everything up and the other two trying to make himself presentable.
As it turns out, brushing your teeth while pulling on jeans wasn't as easy as it looked. Which Ignis had, somehow, just narrowly missed him doing. As it was he was in the middle of tugging on a fresh t-shirt before reaching for a surprisingly thick hoodie.]
Two more minutes, Specs. Just gotta - [Slipping said hoodie over his head in the middle of a sentence was probably rude, but he was doing it anyway.] - find my boots.
[Ignis wouldn't rush him, if it weren't for the fireworks. He just doesn't want them to be late for them and miss out on the beginning. It will be nice to see a little bit of color in the sky, that's for sure.
He gives Noct a smile when he listens to him and pulls the hoodie on.]
The boots are by the entrance door. Our shoes were muddy so I cleaned them.
[If he's going to clean his own, he might as well clean Noct's too while he's at it.]
[Somehow he actually managed to pull himself together exactly enough to be completely ready approximately thirty seconds after Ignis first entered the room. Of course his hair was even messier than normal, sticking up in a few odd angles considering it was starting to get over long and badly in need of a trim.
Grabbing his lantern, he pauses for the briefest of moments to press a soft kiss against Ignis' cheek, before heading for the stairs.]
You're a life saver, you know that? But you could have left them for me.
[He's not going to lie- Noct with a bit longer hair looks very pretty. But, if Noctis asks, Ignis will gladly trim it for him. It won't be the first time.]
I was cleaning mine, so I did yours as well. It was not a problem.
[Ignis presses a kiss to Noct's cheek as well and follows after him downstairs. While Noct is putting on his boots, Ignis grabs the bag from the kitchen (that has few boxes with food in it) and rejoins him at the entrance door.]
[If it would just behave and do literally anything other than hang directly in front of his eyes, it honestly might not be so bad. Unfortunately, that's pretty much the only way it ever decides to fall, no matter how hard he tries.
Shoving his feet down into his boots, he takes twenty seconds each to actually properly lace and tie them, ensuring that he won't be tripping over his own feet. He probably looks a mess and not the kind that comes from having done anything fun. But the over slept got ready in five minutes in the dark kind.]
[Then, Ignis will give it a snip later, when they come back from the picnic, to keep it in order. To him, Noct is cute regardless of how he wears his hair.
Ignis waits for a moment for Noct to be ready and then nods, opening the front door of their hut. Noct sounds as if he's going to go battle the fireworks, not watch them.]
It has been a while since we had a proper date, [he says with an amused smile on his lips. A bit of tease thrown Noct's way but he couldn't help himself. And he's looking forward to this.]
[For someone who was so careful to keep their own appearance neat and tidy, Ignis certainly seemed fond of that disheveled look on Noctis. Then again, he did wear it rather well.]
Well, it's been a while since you asked me. [A soft tease thrown back in return, along with a soft smirk tossed over his shoulder as the words come. There hadn't been a lot of breathing room recently. It felt like everything continued to happen so quickly. Then again, that was exactly how their lives had always been. Going a hundred miles per hour, as if they were constantly trying to fit in as much as possible.]
[Ignis is not sure why considering he's very neat about himself. The disheveled look seems to make Noct look... much, much younger. Playful even. It fits him, and Ignis likes it.]
Apologies. I will make sure to bring you to more similar dates then. [And to prove his point, he gently grasps Noct's hand with his own, entwining their fingers and giving Noct a smile. He's not one for public display of affections but sometimes, sometimes, he just has to.
He didn't hold Noct's hand like this recently, the warmth is very pleasant.]
